Cate Blanchett Primed to Replace Sienna Miller in Scott’s ‘Nottingham’?

After word spread that Sienna Miller would no longer play Maid Marian in Ridley Scott’s Nottingham opposite Russell Crowe with rumors saying it was because she looked too young and too slim opposite a bulked up 44-year-old Crowe it threw yet another kink in the works to the project that has been delayed since before the writers strike. However, new word out of the Telegraph says Cate Blanchett is looking more and more like Miller’s successor.

Mark Strong, who has already been signed up to play Sir Guy of Gisbourne, at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards, at the Grosvenor House hotel, in Park Lane told the Telegraph, “I think Cate Blanchett is set to take the Maid Marian part… She is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it.”

The film, scripted by Ethan Reiff, Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland is a revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale centering on the Sheriff of Nottingham (Crowe) as a noble and brave lawman who labors for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood. Universal is releasing.
