I haven’t mentioned the prospect of David Fincher’s next film being the mildly discussed movie Chef, which he will apparently be making with Keanu Reeves in the lead role as a Michelin-level chef trying to make a comeback from major personal issues. He gathers his old friends together as his ‘dream team’ and ends up falling in love with the newest member of the group. The script was penned by Eastern Promises screenwriter Steven Knight and MTV caught up with Fincher to discuss the film… sort of…
So what can we expect from “Chef”?
“It’s good and chewy,” says Fincher, using terminology that could just as well be applied to delicious meal. “It’s like a celibate sex comedy if that means anything.”
“It’s really about the creative process,” the filmmaker explained. “It’s truly an aromatic art-form, making food. I love that idea. And I love Keanu’s passion for that world.”
It isn’t much at all, but I hadn’t mentioned it yet and now that Fincher is referring to it as a real possibility I felt it best to bring it to your attention.
In other David Fincher news, remember how it looked like his Elliot Ness film was looking like it may fall apart as Paramount was looking like they may let the rights expire? Well, a little over a week ago Devin Faraci at CHUD reported that Paramount had indeed greenlit the feature, titled Torso based on Brian Michael Bendis’ graphic novel. Of course this just means they are in the early stages still, but it isn’t dead.
So now you are all caught up… Go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button this weekend.
