#1 movie predicted correctly: 3 Weeks in a Row
NOTE: These predictions are for the weekend only, not the five-day holiday.
1. Twilight
Twilight will take a 56% drop this weekend as it falls to the curse of every teen movie: extremely frontloaded.
Estimate: $30.7 million
There’s legitimate interest for this film. Plus it’s quick and easy. Like this version of Oracle!
Estimate: $18.2 million
3. Bolt
They should have just done a live action film. Miley is gold these days I tell ya, gold.
Estimate: $14.4 million
I’m still not sure why it fell 60.4% last weekend. Perhaps the whole world is frontloaded these days.
Estimate: $12.4 million
5. Australia
A dreadful little movie that also happens to be nearly three hours long. The poor guys that get dragged to this deserve combat pay; it makes Twilight look like Casablanca.
Estimate: $11.9 million
The last one made $85m worldwide, but much of that was international. I’m not yet the international Oracle, so I’ve got to go low on this title.
Estimate: $11.0 million
On the plus side: They had 4000 theaters last weekend. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? Try it sometime.
Estimate: $7.5 million
8. Role Models
It’s been a banner year for comedy. And superheroes. Other than that… you can have it. Although The Wrestler and Slumdog are worthy indies. Aw man, I’m talking myself out of hating ’08 already.
Estimate: $4.1 million
9. Changeling
You wanna talk about a film that’s lost all Oscar momentum in the past two weeks? Allow me to introduce you to The Changeling.
Estimate: $1.1 million
One day it will be revealed that Disney is using these teens for nefarious activities. Wait, that’s already been revealed? Never mind then. Happy Thanksgiving for those of y’all that celebrate. For those who don’t… well, happy Thursday.
Estimate: $.7 million
