I can’t help but think the new DreamWorks Animation 3-D feature Monsters vs. Aliens is going to have a throwback to Kubrick’s Dr. Stangelove and someone will yell out some variation of the famed President Muffley quote, ,b>”Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!” And this new picture (as seen above) from the flick makes me believe it is an inevitability and if it isn’t already in there I suggest they get off their ass and record it. After all, they got Stephen Colbert to play the President of the United States, who better than to pick up where Peter Sellers left off? At least in this case.
Well, that was my roundabout way of telling you the picture above is the newest snapshot from the upcoming flick and you can get an even larger look at the image right here. I have also added the new synopsis and featured it just below along with the trailer that was released just last week. Monsters vs. Aliens hits theaters on March 27, 2009 and stars the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Rainn Wilson, Hugh Laurie, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Kiefer Sutherland, Paul Rudd and Stephen Colbert.
Now, here’s that synopsis and trailer… remember, the full gallery is right here.
When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. Alerted to the threat of this new monster, the military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of other monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, The President is persuaded by General W.R. Monger to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.
