Last night Gus van Sant’s Milk premiered at the Castro Theatre on Castro Street in San Francisco as Focus Features premiered the film centered on Harvey Milk (Sean Penn), the first openly gay man elected into major public office in America. Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, a major victory for gay rights and brought about a change on the political landscape. I already wrote an article talking about a few of the reactions (and subsequent online slapping) to the premiere (read that here) and also posted 27 new images from the film itself (look at those here), but now I have 20 images from the premiere itself as well as four red carpet interview pieces with director Gus Van Sant and co-stars Emile Hirsch, James Franco and Josh Brolin.
Pictured in the images, which you can access using the thumbnails at the bottom of this article, are Gus Van Sant, Sean Penn and his wife Robin Wright Penn, Emile Hirsch and his girlfriend, Alison Pill, Josh Brolin and his wife Diane Lane, Diego Luna, James Franco, producer Dustin Lance Black. You will notice many of the folks sporting “No on 8” pins which is in oppositition to proposition 8, which would eliminate same-sex couples’ right to marry in California.

Milk hits theaters on November 26.
