I am not a fan of 3-D, so with the news that so many films are going to be presented in 3-D in the coming years does not have me all that excited. I only say this because it hurts my eyes, especially for long durations of time. Typically animated movies are fine, but the one that worries me is James Cameron’s Avatar considering Cameron doesn’t make short films.
One of the upcoming 3-D animated films is DreamWorks’ Monsters vs. Aliens, and USA Today has a new image from DreamWorks’ upcoming feature along with a feature article dubbing the film “a throwback to those B-movie glory days of the ’50s when Martians invaded our backyards and rubber monsters stalked the Earth.”
The pic will be showcased at ShoWest and is being sold as the first computer-animated feature to be shot in 3-D. The one quote from the piece that I like to see is from Jeffrey Katzenberg saying, “The digital projection puts a perfect image on the screen. There is no ghosting, no eye strain or nausea.” This is great news as my experience recently with Open Season and Meet the Robinsons was hardly tolerable.
Below is the image and you can check out the complete article right here. The film is set for a March 27, 2009 release date.
