Depp to Step In for Ledger in ‘Parnassus’, but He Ain’t Alone

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that not only are the rumors true about Johnny Depp stepping in where Heath Ledger left off and finishing up The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus for director Terry Gilliam, but Jude Law and Colin Farrell will also be taking part in what is sure to become more of a tribute film than anything else.

AICN’s Moriarty has read the script and believes the decision is a solid one, and I personally think it sounds like a much better idea to have more than one actor fill in as rumor has it the storyline lends itself to the changing of the lead character, which, of course, is what will be happening here.

There is no word on a shooting schedule or when the film will eventually be released, but it is expected in 2009 and I can only hope it is worth watching. Gilliam’s last film, Tideland, was so bad I couldn’t even finish watching it and it would be a shame if Ledger’s last film, a tribute film of sorts, ended up being unwatchable.
