As far as anyone knows, plans are still to move forward on the film beginning production in London in March with a release date of February 13, 2009.

The film was in the hands of Romanek for some time and starring in the lead role is Benicio del Toro with Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt pulling supporting duties.

The original was released in 1941 and starred Lon Chaney Jr. stars as the unfortunate Larry Talbot, who getrs bitten by a werewolf and survives to carry the curse. The sequel will be set in Victorian England. Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.
