Chow Yun-Fat to Star in ‘Dragonball’

It was recently announced that Phantom of the Opera star and overall cutie Emmy Rossum was joining the cast of 20th Century Fox’s Dragonball and I was going to do a write up, but I never got around to it. However, now that Chow Yun-Fat has also joined the project perhaps this adaptation of the manga created by Akira Toriyama is something worth keeping an eye on.

Yun-Fat joins Rossum, Justin Chatwin, James Marsters and Jamie Chung in the film to be directed by Final Destination helmer James Wong.

The story follows Goku (Chatwin), a warrior alien who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling mystical objects known as Dragon Balls.

Yun-Fat will play Master Roshi, Goku’s mentor, helping him achieve the highest state of fighting and spiritual powers.

The film is shooting in Mexico City and Los Angeles and is set for an August 15, 2008 release.
