‘The Dark Knight’ is Like a Disease

As always in the world of movie marketing once you succeed with one attempt you must next do it to the point that it becomes mind-numbing and no longer has that “special” appeal it once had.

Warner Bros. is now attempting to bury fans in viral sites for The Dark Knight following its earlier success with viral sites WhySoSerious.com, IBelieveinHarveyDent.com, IBelieveinHarveyDentToo.com, SeeYouInDecember.com and, of course, the actual official movie site we now have FIVE more! Yup, five.

Let’s see… we have TheGothamTimes.com, TheHaHaTimes.com, GothamNationalBank.com, WeAreTheAnswer.org and RememberingGina.org. I know my teaser says there are too many to count, but that makes ten total sites for one movie. When is too much too much?

I will say the marketing is inspiring, and if they manage to space it all out enough it won’t become overbearing. One thing I will admit to is wanting to see this movie, but I am sure there are many that sympathize with me there.

The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18, 2008.
