Lucas Cast in Poe Inspired Thriller

I am sure many of you have read Edgar Allan Poe’s story “The Tell-Tale Heart.” I say this because I had some terrible high-schooling and even I read it, which leads me to believe that others have also. Well, get ready to hear this little take on the story, I am not sure how well it works.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Josh Lucas has signed on to star in Tell-Tale for director Michael Cuesta who has directed five episodes of Showtime’s “Dexter” as well as another 5 episodes of “Six Feet Under”. One may say he is prepped and ready for this psychological thriller, but the story just sounds wack-a-doo to me.

The film was inspired by Poe’s “Tell-Tale Heart” but is not a direct adaptation. It will be set in modern time and Lucas will star as a single father whose recently transplanted heart leads him on a frantic search to find the donor’s killer before a similar fate befalls him. See what I mean… a little wishy-washy isn’t it. I can appreciate an attempt to do something different, but this just calls for a lot of leaniancy.

However, Hyde Park hasn’t had any trouble selling the film internationally as sales have already closed in South Korea, Eastern Europe, Benelux, Portugal, Greece, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, Middle East, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico and Latin America. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
