I know there are plenty of musician/singers that have made the leap from music to acting, but come on… Lenny Kravitz has got to be making this move only because he saw what Crossroads did for ol’ Miss Spears… right?
Anyway, Kravitz is set to make his feature-starring debut for director Lee Daniels in Push, an independently financed adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sapphire (Ramona Lofton). Kravitz is joined by Mo’nique, Paula Patton and newcomer Gabourey “Gabbie” Sidibe. As a matter of fact, Paula Patton is so gorgeous she may be reason enough to see this movie without any other details, anyone that saw Deja Vu knows what I am talking about… if I was Denzel I would have done my best to survive as well.
Push centers on Clareece “Precious” Jones, an overweight, illiterate African-American teen in Harlem. Just as she’s about to give birth to her second child, Jones is accepted into an alternative school where a teacher (Patton) helps her find an alternative path in her life. Mo’nique plays the girl’s mother and Kravitz plays a nurse who shows kindness to Jones.
Production is just getting under way in New York.
