‘Saw 5’ Is Cutting a Tight Script Deadline

Only a few hours ago I reported on ShockTillYouDrop’s little news piece concerning Saw V, and boom, Ryan over there goes and puts up an even juicier article that confirms Saw IV helmer Darren Bousman is already making plans for his Scanners remake and David Hackl gives even more insight on the progression of Saw V.

The most important piece of news conerning Saw V is obviously strike related as Hackl says, “We have about a week to write the outline, then the script by the end of the month. We’re really just throwing down the ideas now and it’s coming together quickly.” Yikes, a week for the outline and get that script done because after that there won’t be any clever writers to do the writing. Better hope the idea sticks, but as Hackl points out, “Right until the last days of filming we’re always changing things and adjusting things just seeing what works as the story unfolds and I think that’s why people like them – because we never let them rest. We don’t go into pre-production with a white script and say, ‘That’s it no changes.’ We push it so there’s no holes.”

However, Saw fans can rest relatively easy as Hackl does say that the franchise is “precious” and that they would “never start a sequel” unless it felt right. For the complete story click here as he talks a little more about the production and his hopes to keep his team intact.
