Walken and Nivola Get ‘Five Dollars a Day’

I am starting to think that Christopher Walken‘s style of acting may becoming a bit gimmicky. I don’t say this to fault Walken at all, but once everyone and their mother started imitating Walken it suddenly becoming a “been there, done that” kind of thing. Lucky for me I don’t really care and still love Chris, but wouldn’t it be cool if he did another real bad guy role? It has been about 14 years since Chris played a guy that was just all out bad, and not bad with a comedy edge to him, which basically just confirms my suspicions.

While this new role doesn’t sound like it is going to be hard hitting, it does seem like it is a bit more serious as the word “comedy” isn’t used once in the Variety article announcing that Walken and Alessandro Nivola are set to star in Five Dollars a Day.

The road trip movie will find Walken playing a conman proud of living like a king on $5 a day, and Nivola his offspring, who had been jailed for one of his father’s crimes.

The film is expected to begin production in New Mexico and Atlantic City, N.J., on Sept. 10.
