Foster and Breslin Land On ‘Nim’s Island’

Jodie Foster and recent 11-year-old Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin are both near deals to star in the fantasty film Nim’s Island for Walden-Media for Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levi to direct from the script by Joseph Kwon and Paula Mazur.

The film is based on the book by Wendy Orr and Kerry Millard and the story concerns a young girl who accompanies her scientist father to an isolated island in the South Pacific. When he is lost at sea, she communicates electronically with a person she imagines to be a character from a book but is in fact a reclusive author.

The article also mentions that Breslin is set to star in American Girl for Picturehouse and HBO Films. Breslin will play Kit Kittredge, based on the popular doll. Story follows Kit as she tries to help save her family as it struggles through the Depression.

Filming begins on American Girl on June 4 while Nim’s Island will film this summer for a 20th Century Fox release most likely in 2008.
