Variety is reporting that Gerard Butler my already be reaping the rewards from this weekend’s blockbuster hit 300 as his agents, CAA, began shopping Monday for a remake of John Carpenter’s 1981 actioner Escape From New York with Butler attached to star.
Word is that several studios are battling for the pic and a deal is expected to be made this week.
Butler would play the role originated by Kurt Russell in the 1981 film, Snake Plissken, the one-eyed convict who’s charged with heading into the inescapable maximum security prison formerly known as Manhattan to liberate the U.S. president.
