Bousman Moves from ‘Saw’ to ‘Scanners’

It looks like we can say Darren Bousman has finally made it as he made his feature directing debut with Saw II and has since helmed Saw III, will direct Saw IV, and he will direct Repo. I would say he has made it and now we learn Dimension is handing him the reigns on Scanners, a remake David Cronenberg’s 1981 horror pic.

David Goyer is set to write the script which follows the story revolving around a scientist who infiltrates an underground movement of “scanners,” whose telepathic abilities make them lethal weapons. The original was best remembered for an exploding head finale reports Variety and I will take their word since I have never seen it.

The goal is apparently to have Scanners in production early 2008 for release later that year. The article also says that Bousman will begin production on Saw IV on April 15 and will then move to Repo after that.

Oddly enough this isn’t the first time Bousman has been associated with a film over at Dimension. Almost a year ago exactly word was announced that would be directing Wichita for Dimension and he has also publicly expressed interest in directing a film called Threshold at the studio. The plot for Wichita awas nothing more than a thriller about an unthinkable crime that destroys the lives of eight characters. As for Threshold I have no idea.
