Meet the Parents was enough to convince me not to see Meet the Fockers but I should have learned my lesson with Analyze This, which equally taught me not to see Analyze That. Oh well, it looks like Universal doesn’t care whether I think the De Niro of old is being destroyed as Bobby stars in dumb comedy after dumb comedy as the tradition of Focker films is set to continue with Little Focker, the third installment of what has become one of Universal’s most lucrative franchises.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures has reupped Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal’s NY-based Tribeca Prods. for another two years and Little Focker is ready to go into production with Jay Roach, who directed the first two films back for the third. Apparently they hope to bring back Ben Stiller, De Niro, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand for the third film which will be written by Larry Stuckey.
Official word on a synopsis is not yet available, but the title is pretty much a giveaway. As for De Niro, well, the picture to the left is how I will always try to remember him.
