Last year when TNT did their “Nightmares and Dreamscapes” mini series based on eight of the short stories in Stephen King’s collection of stories from “Nightmares and Dreamscapes” they left out my favorite, “Dolan’s Cadillac,” but it seems that story may finally be getting its due. Production Weekly is reporting that Dennis Hopper is in negotiations to star in a film adaptation of the revenge story.
Hopper would play James Dolan, Las Vegas’ most ruthless and untouchable mob boss. In the story Francey Robinson witnesses an execution in the desert and is then targeted for death by the mobster. When Francey is killed her husband, Tom, sets out on a path for revenge and if done right the tale of what happens in the Nevada desert will be so chilling it will make The Hitcher look tame. The interesting casting choice will be who they get to play Tom Robinson, because they are going to have to be very intense.
The article says that production is scheduled to begin in April so we may have more casting news just around the corner along with the naming of a director.
