Scorsese Takes Home DGA Win

Well, this past weekend I showed my father The Departed and I think it was the first movie he has seen since color television was invented, if it doesn’t have to do with sports he usually isn’t watching but somehow I managed to slip it in before we enjoyed a nice Colts win. Atta boy Rex! Atta boy! Wow, didn’t even think about the canine corellation there until just now. Nevertheless, I think Lovie is now wishing Grossman would not have lived up to his last name tonight.

However, we are here to talk about The Departed and even more specifically Mr. Martin Scorsese who just took home top honors from the Director’s Guild of America with the DGA’s Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film award.

The DGA is quick to point out that this award specifically severs as a near-perfect barometer for the Academy Award for Best Director. I don’t think anyone is going to be surprised when Scorsese is holding the Oscar gold, but I think I will be remembering my dad saying, “So he was the bad guy and he was the good guy.” My dad breaks things down very specifically as you can tell.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait until February 25 to see if Marty takes home a gold-plated statuette at the 2007 Oscars.
