I know just about jack when it comes to the comic book world. Basically I think the movies and the ideas are cool, yet I also think they are very close to overstaying their welcome. However, there is one film I am very much looking forward to and Latino Review has a rumor filled update that should interest you all concerning the upcoming follow-up to Batman Begins… The Dark Knight.
Rumors have gone all around about who will be a villain, who won’t be and that is really all these are, although they do say they are official. Let’s take a peek:
- Harvey Dent is in The Dark Knight. Matt Damon passed on the role. The filmmakers met Josh Lucas and there is an interest in Jamie Foxx and Ed Norton.
- The role previously played by Katie Holmes, Rachel Dawes, is apparently in the second film but word is Holmes will not be asked back and they will be going with a new actress. If that is true… Ouch! However, Variety says the following of the situation: “Holmes, who is making her return to acting after maternity leave, has dropped out of The Dark Knight, Warner Bros.’ Christopher Nolan-directed sequel to Batman Begins.” Hmmm… I guess Cruise wasn’t the problem?
- There are a few other minor roles detailed:
- Eastern European Heavy – tough bad guy mobster, 40s-50s
- Female Cop – Latin, 30s. Elizabeth Pena type.
- Asian Accountant – male, 40s
- Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. The Penguin, will not be in the film as previously rumored.
- Production Weekly reports the film has been in pre-production as of January 11th.
And that’s your rumors. The film is currently slated for a July 18, 2008 release.
