This year instead of a “Worst Films of the Year” I posted my “Most Disappointing Films of the Year.” I did this for the mere reason that I think to point out bad movies is pretty much a waste of time since you can tell from the trailers they are going to be bad.
Did anyone really think Little Man or Basic Instinct 2 were going to be any good? So why do a worst of article to point out the obvious? The same goes for the annual presentation that is the Golden Raspberry Awards, which are said to present the “dis-honor roll of Worst Achievements in Film” each year. Guess what leads the way… Yup, Little Man and Sharon Stone’s Basic Instinct 2 lead with seven nods each, Bloodrayne, Lady In The Water
and Wicker Man are the two other Worst Picture nominees.
Wow! Big surprise and ever so interesting. It sure is a good thing that I have the Razzies around to tell me that Deck the Halls and The Shaggy Dog were no good. Dodged a bullet there! Oh, and Bloodrayne wasn’t any good? Whew, I almost picked that one up since I have heard Uwe Boll makes all the best films. Gimme a break!
What is more interesting is that movies like Click and Poseidon each received Oscar nominations! Now, if you can figure that one out for me then perhaps I will be more interested in your stupid list. Yeah, the noms were for special effects and make-up, but just so they don’t feed the needy the Academy could have found someone else to nominate couldn’t they?
If you have any interest in feeding a dying beast click here for the Razzie noms, otherwise just look through the list of movies released in 2006 and you can probably make a list exactly the same or probably even a little better.
