Stomp the Yard was a surprise victor for the second weekend in a row; a little surprising given the 100 ads I’ve seen for The Hitcher. I’m okay with it though, especially if it leads to more dancing movies. Example title: Line Dance the Barn.
#1 movie predicted correctly: Zero Weeks In A Row
How nuts would it have been if Night at the Museum recaptured first? Follow up question; when again is a good movie coming out?
Result: $13.3 million (My rank: #3, $3.8m off)
Whoever picked this release date is sitting in a nice comfy corner office at this point. And they should because while this movie was good no one could have predicted this much success. Can you believe $205 million so far?!?!?!
Result: $13.0 million (My rank: #2, $3.3m off)
3. Dreamgirls
The $70m this one had made must be considered a success, especially since Eddie Murphy mentioned he’d worked for free to get it made.
Result: $8.7 million (My rank: #4, $2.4m off)
4. The Hitcher
Hey, at least I wasn’t $12m off. That would have been truly embarrassing.
Result: $8.2 million (My rank: #1, $11.9m off)
I had this whole weekend much lower. Why aren’t people are home paying off their credit card debt?
Result: $6.7 million (My rank: #6, $2.2m off)
These guys will write for freedom wherever there’s trouble. Swanky!
Result: $5.5 million (My rank: #7, $1.4m off)
I thought would be a critical darling but a public miss. I was wrong, it had a nice weekend with minimal theatres.
Result: $4.7 million (My rank: Not Ranked)
8. The Queen
This proves that Gloden Globe buzz, while not completely worthless, isn’t exactly money in the bank either.
Result: $3.7 million (My rank: #5, $1.0m off)
I’m at a hotel, I’ve ordered room service, and they are taking forever. This makes my stomach very frustrated.
Result: $3.7 million (My rank: #8, $.2m off)
It just arrived! Now The Oracle is much happier. But, oh, our time is up. Tune in next week.
Result: $3.1 million (My rank: #10, $.3m off)
