Quick Casting Bits: Dec. 18, 2006

I have no desire to try to make this interesting, so here is the scoop:

  • Willem Dafoe is set to star opposite Jeff Goldblum in Paul Schrader’s Adam Resurrected, which concerns a former circus entertainer who was spared the gas chamber so he might entertain thousands of other Jews as they were marched to their deaths. After the war, he becomes the leader at an asylum populated by Holocaust survivors. (Variety)
  • Dennis Farina will star alongside Brooke Shields and Richard Kind in National Lampoon’s Bagboy, a comedy set in the world of competitive grocery bagging. (Variety)
  • Brittany Murphy is in negotiations to star in The White Hotel, a long-in-the-works adaptation of the acclaimed D.M. Thomas novel. Simon Monjack is directing the movie from his own script. The story centers on an opera singer (Murphy) who seeks out the services of Sigmund Freud in post-World War I Vienna. Haunted by hallucinatory dreams about a white hotel, she becomes Freud’s famous case study Anna G. Together, they unlock the key to figuring out her memories and her premonitions of the future, which include the Holocaust. (The Hollywood Reporter)
  • Topher Grace will make his next film Kids in America, about one night in the lives of a group of recent college grads in the late 1980s. (Production Weekly)
