Whitford Commits ‘An American Crime’

Bradley Whitford has made a big name for himself on television with his former role as Josh Lyman on “The West Wing” and with that show at an end he looks to do the same with yet another Aaron Sorkin project in “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” However, we can’t forget his small but memorable roles in such films as Billy Madison and RoboCop 3 now can we.

Well, maybe his film career will get a little more legit as he has now joined the cast of An American Crime for director Tommy O’Haver.

The film is described by The Hollywood Reporter as a gritty treu-crime drama telling the story of Sylvia Likens, a 16-year-old who died in 1965 while under the care of a woman named Gertrude Baniszewski. Whitford plays the prosecuting attorney in the trial of Baniszewski v. the state of Indiana.

I thought Whitford was the best part of “The West Wing” and I hope he can continue to strive on “Studio 60”. Then again, I wouldn’t mind seeing a nice film career for the guy.
