2006 Fox Searchlight Pictures Preview

Once again we have a new 2006 preview for you. Granted these pics have been live on the site for some time, but I never formally gave you a distinct preview. To tell you the truth I think this is the best Fox Searchlight slate I have seen in a long time. From the Russian smash hit Night Watch, the horror remake The Hills Have Eyes, the Mira Nair drama The Namesake and the next Danny Boyle feature Sunshine.

It is a massive slate, check it all out below along with links to all our otehr 2006 previews at the end of this article.

Imagine Me & You

(January 27)

Imagine Me & You is the story of a girl who falls in love on her wedding day…but not with the man of honor. Heck (Matthew Goode) and Rachel (Piper Perabo) are a happy young couple about to embark on life together. But at the church, Rachel catches the eye of an unexpected guest. In that moment, she realizes that maybe Heck isn’t the one for her. Of course, they will never know for sure unless they give it a shot. What follows is the romantic, humorous and sometimes poignant journey familiar to anyone who’s ever been lucky (or unlucky) enough to be under love’s spell.
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)

(February 17)

Set in contemporary Moscow, Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness — the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. As night falls, the dark forces battle the super-human “Others” of the Night Watch, whose mission is to patrol and protect. But there is constant fear that an ancient prophecy will come true: that a powerful “Other” will rise up, be tempted by one of the sides, and tip the balance plunging the world into a renewed war between the dark and light, the results of which would be catastrophic.

Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) is the first installment of a trilogy based on the best-selling sci-fi novels of Sergei Lukyanenko entitled Night Watch, Day Watch and Dusk Watch. The film is the official Russian contender for Best Foreign Language Film for the 2005 Academy Awards.

The Hills Have Eyes

A new take on Wes Craven’s 1977 film of the same name, The Hills Have Eyes is the story of a family road trip that goes terrifyingly awry when the travelers become stranded in a government atomic zone. Miles from nowhere, the Carters soon realize the seemingly uninhabited wasteland is actually the breeding ground of a blood-thirsty mutant family…and they are the prey.
Thank You For Smoking

(March 17)

The hero of Thank You For Smoking is Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart), chief spokesman for Big Tobacco, who makes his living defending the rights of smokers and cigarette makers in today’s neo-puritanical culture. Confronted by health zealots out to ban tobacco and an opportunistic senator (William H. Macy) who wants to put poison labels on cigarette packs, Nick goes on a PR offensive, spinning away the dangers of cigarettes on TV talk shows and enlisting a Hollywood super-agent (Rob Lowe) to promote smoking in movies. Nick’s newfound notoriety attracts the attention of both tobacco’s head honcho (Robert Duvall) and an investigative reporter for an influential Washington daily (Katie Holmes). Nick says he is just doing what it takes to pay the mortgage, but he begins to think about how his work makes him look in the eyes of his young son Joey (Cameron Bright).
