Vaughn Sprinkles ‘Stardust’

Matthew Vaughn was earlier attached to direct X-Men 3 after his directorial debut on Layer Cake. He then dropped off the project for ambiguous reasons, but we may have just found out the real reason.

Vaughn is set to direct and produce his very own adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s adult fairy tale Stardust. The novel is set in a town in the English countryside where the magical and mortal mix. Story’s centered on a young man who promises his beloved that he’ll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm, where he has to contend with witches, goblins, gnomes, talking animals and evil trees.

Gaiman’s work was recently adapted in the Sony Pictures release MirrorMask, which only made around $533,000 at the box-office, but Gaiman has a following, a BIG following and if this film takes advantage of his imagery it is sure to be something to capture the imagination.
