Variety is reporting that Phoenix Pictures has optioned the rights to New York Times reporter David Kocieniewski’s crime novel The Brass Wall and will develop the story into a starring vehicle for Mark Ruffalo.
The story begins as an undercover cop (Ruffalo) infiltrates the Lucchesi crime family in an effort to solve the murder of a city firefighter, when he discovers the tipster was the son of a high-ranking police official.
Ruffalo will next be seen in the romantic-comedy Just Like Heaven opposite Reese Witherspoon followed by All the King’s Men and Rumor Has It in December.
