Fuqua Will Direct ‘By Any Means Necessary’

Antoine Fuqua‘s name has been tossed around a lot over the past year or so, yet we haven’t seen a picture of his actually go into production for some time. For the longest time he was expected to direct American Gangster, which has now been assigned to Hotel Rwanda helmer Terry George after Fuqua left the project due to irreconciable differences. Since that time Fuqua has been reportedly assigned the duties of bringing the story of Biggie Smalls to the big screen for Fox Searchlight and now Variety comes to us with yet another project for the talented director.

Paramount Pictures has tapped Fuqua to direct By Any Means Necessary based on a script by Dan Pyne. The film is described as a contemporary action-adventure centering on law enforcement turning to a jailed mobster to help prevent a possible terrorist attack. Studio’s aiming to begin production early next year.

For the man that directed the Oscar-winning Training Day this sounds like a perfect project.

The film will be produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura who is also developing several projects with Paramount including Convoy, The Forger, G.I. Joe and the Transformers.
