The Weinstein Co. is setting up its first studio partnership since the brothers parted ways with Walt Disney and will team with Warner Bros. to distribute the first all-CGI-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature.
The film does not have a title as of yet, but is eyeing a 2007 release and is expected to be much grittier than the half-action/half-comedy Turtle films that haven’t seen the big screen since 1993. The tone will be taken from the comicbook series and aimed at PG audiences.
Kevin Munroe has been tapped to write and direct the feature in consultation with ‘Turtles’ comicbook co-creator Peter Laird.
