Sony Genre Sequels Moving Forward

If you ever thought studios had completely lost their minds when it came to unnecessary sequels then you better turn your head as three more have just been set up at Sony.

Starting off, the rumors are true, as I Know What You Did Last Summer 3 is set to go. FilmJerk dropped the story a few days ago and the story of four teens in a Colorado town who are menaced by an assailant a year after a Fourth of July prank turns deadly is set to go with a late-summer shoot in Utah planned.

A director has not yet been attached to the flick, but Michael Weiss is busy penning the script. On top of that, confirmation has come down that Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. will not be featured in the film.

Next is Hollow Man 2, yes… I said Hollow Man 2, the follow-up to the 2000 feature, which starred Kevin Bacon and Elisabeth Shue in which an egotistical scientist Doctor Sebastian Caine, sets out to become the world’s first invisible man then of course everything goes wrong.

The story for the sequel revolves around a Seattle [woo-hoo Seattle!] detective and a biologist who are on the run from a dangerous invisible assassin gone rogue as well as the government forces that created him. A mid-August start date is scheduled.

The sequel will be directed by Claudio Fah, the man who directed… well… er… nothing of note. The script is being written by Joel Soisson.

You see a trend yet? A bunch of no names… Well get ready for some more.

Finally we have Road House 2 – Last Call with Scott Ziehl set to direct and Miles Chapman is writing the script with an August shoot being eyed for the project. I don’t think you should expect Patrick Swayze to be the star of this one, but a cameo by Swayze is sure to seal the demise of the project.
