Will Ferrell has not yet signed on to star in a sequel to last year’s hit Elf and it seems New Line won’t actually make the film unless the star signs thanks to this year’s bomb of a sequel Son of the Mask, but that isn’t stopping them from getting the story down on paper.
New Line has hired Scot Armstrong, writer of Old School and Starsky & Hutch, to pen Elf 2. Apparently New Line and Ferrell have reached some sort of understanding giving the studio confidence in moving forward even though Ferrell is not signed and the film is not yet greenlit.
