Grammer is an ‘X3’ Beast

X-Men 3 movement is on as Variety gives us two more casting bits as Kelsey Grammer is aboard to play the role of Beast, the oversized blue-furred creature and “Lost’s” Maggie Grace is in final negotiations to play the role of Kitty Pryde, a beauty who can walk through walls.

The article also goes on to confirm that Vinnie Jones has secured the role of the 6-foot-10, 900-pound Juggernaut, but let’s step back to this Kelsey Grammer thing for a second. Grammer is 50-years-old and to my knowledge has nevver been involved in an action film, and while his voice is certainly perfect for the role, but we will have to wait and see if he can pull it off.

On the other hand, there seems to be a lot of confidence coming out of the Marvel camp as producer Avi Arad tells Variety, “Kelsey was born to play the role… This is a big role in the new movie, and when we met with him, you can see that Kelsey has that you’d-better-have-a-dictionary-handy intelligence.”

This goes along with the fact that Beast is the most intelligent of the mutants due to him completing his doctoral studies under Xavier’s tutelage, and finally leaving the X-Men and Xavier’s school to take a position as a genetic researcher with the Brand Corporation.

The Variety article also goes on to explain that the search is still on for the winged mutant Angel.

Matthew Vaughn is directing X-Men 3 which is scheduled for release May 26, 2006.
