Lohan Up for Role in ‘Mission: Impossible 3’?

It is no secret that Mission: Impossible 2 was a step down from the first film, and with all the changes surrounding the third film in the franchise it seems Mission: Impossible 3 is not exactly off to a good start, and now there is rumors that Lindsay Lohan is up for a part, what is going on? Does Tom Cruise simply want to surround himself with every young thing in Hollywood? Is Katie Holmes not enough?

As of right now there is no word on what the storyline for the third film is going to be, what is known is that “Alias” creator J.J. Abrams is going to be at the directing helm and it was also recently made known that formerly cast Carrie-Anne Moss and Scarlett Johansson have dropped off the picture, assuming due to scheduling problems as the production date for the film has consistently been pushed back.

So, back to this Lohan issue, over the weekend it has been reported that Miss Lohan dropped a news tidbit to L.A.’s 102.7 KIIS-FM (radio home of American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest). The tidbit was quoted by a website called Dude Man Phat in which Lohan apparently said she is going to China soon to film a BIG movie. When asked what movie, she said, “Mission: Impossible 3. Shhhh. You’re the first ones I’ve told.”

Okay, following that, the news was picked up by, hmmm, ah, ummm… No one! So how real could this be? Well, let’s see, last night Access Hollywood caught up with the young starlett and asked her about the comment, to which she said, “I actually met with J.J. Abrams… I’m a huge fan of.. ‘Lost’ and ‘Alias’, so hopefully, we will see what happens. If so, I’ll be in training for a few weeks, putting on some muscles.” She continued saying, “It’s kind of an incredible feeling, I’m scared. If I do Mission: Impossible 3 that is going to be so exhilarating. I’m so excited, I just can’t wait to do stunts and get all into it.”

Muscles, huh? Not sure if Lohan has looked in the mirror lately, but she ain’t exactly the all-American gal she used to be. The picture you see above was taken from this article over at MSN where they quoted Lohan from a Teen Vogue article saying, “…Compared to a lot of actresses my age, I’m actually overweight… There are so many really, really thin girls out there.”

OVERWEIGHT!!!! I like ’em skinny, but I also like to know that they are eating. Lohan also goes on to say in the article that she is tired of not being taken as seriously as some of the other Hollywood actresses such as Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman as she also revealed that she would have loved to audition for Nat’s role in Closer, she went on to say, “I work just as hard as those people and sometimes [the media] make it seem that they’re more mature because their fan base is more mature and my fan base is younger … so they’re writing about me going out all the time. It’s easy to over-publicize me.”

Well, with an upcoming role opposite Meryl Streep in Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion and now an apparent chance to step into a film that Scarlett Johansson was once attached to she will get that notoriety and respect she thinks she is not getting, but she also has to remember that she still has to act.

Only time will tell if she has what it takes, and for some reason I don’t think her upcoming Disney feature, Herbie: Fully Loaded, is going to give us any indication on her true acting abilities.
