‘Anchorman’ and ‘Mean Girls’ Lead MTV Movie Noms

The “MTV Movie Awards” have had something of a fall from grace as of late and this year’s list of nominees as well as the network’s decision to bring back un-funny-man Jimmy Fallon back to host is just more reason to understand why even fewer people will probably watch this year’s awards than did last year. Realizing that last year’s slate of films were far from extraordinary when I learn that Anchorman and Mean Girls lead this year’s list of nominees in the “2005 MTV Movie Awards” I simply shrugged and began my article.

The fourteenth annual awards ceremony will air on June 9th at 8:30PM (ET/PT). The winners will be revealed at the “2005 MTV Movie Awards,” which will be taped on June 4th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA.

Yup, taped as always, so the good stuff is all cut-out and things such as the presentation of “Best Kiss,” “Best Frightened Performance” and “Best Video Game Based on a Movie” will be seen in their entirety.

So, how is all this crap figured out, and who actually thought that Cary Elwes gave a good performance in Saw?

Well, the nominees for the “2005 MTV Movie Awards” are chosen through a national poll of MTV and MTV2 viewers. The winners will be determined by MTV and MTV2 viewers, and only Virgin Mobile USA customers can cast their vote wirelessly through “*MTV” found under “VirginXtras” or “VirginXL” for 3G-enabled phones. In addition, votes can be cast from May 4 through May 20 online by visiting MTV.com or by telephone at 900-562-2300 at 99 cents per call (must be 18 years or older to call). Tickets will be on-sale on May 4th via Ticketmaster and Ticketmaster outlets for this show. For more information on tickets, call the Ticketmaster hotline number, 213-480-3232 or visit Ticketmaster.com.
