Chris Cooper and rocker-turned-actor Reeve Carney have joined the cast of The Tempest, Julie Taymor’s gender-bending adaptation of the Shakespeare play.
The Hollywood Reporter says Cooper will play Antonio, who usurps the Duchess of Milan, Prospera, played by Helen Mirren (in the play, the character was male). Carney plays Ferdinand, the son of the king of Naples (Jeremy Irons).
Production is set to start next week in Hawaii.
