‘Birds’ To Fly Again

Remakes have become common place on a yearly basis and it seems that in the last few years the remake announcements seem to be hitting the news wire more and more and today is no exception as The Hollywood Reporter announces that Universal is planning a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1963 horror film The Birds through Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, apparently the new king of the horror remake.

The new version of the film will apparently be base on the short story by Daphne Du Maurier, to which Universal owns the rights and which inspired Hitchcock’s movie.

The original film starred Tippi Hendren as residents in a Californian coastal area are inexplicably besieged by flocks of birds.

Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes has already successfully remade The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror and recently set up a remake of The Hitcher so the trend fits a move to a Hitchcock title, jury is still out if they will have the same success.
