John Crowley Walks The Dogs of Babel

British theater and film helmer John Crowley has signed on to direct the drama The Dogs of Babel for Mandate Pictures, reports Variety.

We Are Marshall screenwriter Jamie Linden has been hired to adapt the best-selling novel, which centers on a linguistics professor who returns home one day to find his wife dead in their backyard. In an effort to uncover what happened, he attempts to teach the couple’s dog — the only witness to her death — to talk.

Mandate is fast-tracking the film, which is being produced by David Heyman of Heyday Films, and Corey May and Dooma Wendschuh of Sekretagent Productions. Nathan Kahane and Tiffany Daniel are executive producing, with Nicole Brown and Tendo Nagenda overseeing for Mandate.
