The First My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 Photos Debut

First look at the returning cast in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 photos

USA Today has our first look at Nia Vardalos, John Corbett an the rest of the Portokalos clan in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 photos, which you can view below. The film is the long-awaited follow-up to the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time.

Gold Circle Entertainment and HBO present the Playtone production of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, written by Academy Award nominee Vardalos, who stars alongside the entire returning cast of favorites. The film reveals a Portokalos family secret that will bring the beloved characters back together for an even bigger and Greeker wedding.

“We’re standing there and John (Corbett), goes, ‘Weren’t we just here six months ago?'” says Vardalos. “It was lovely having the whole cast back together. We hugged each other daily and ate a lot. When the candy cart came around, we are scraping off candy. It wasn’t like a normal set where people had to fit into Gucci jeans.”

The movie picks up with Toula and Ian struggling to find time for each other while managing their lives and a teenage daughter.

“I thought I’m just going to brace myself and know it’s probably not going to be as good,” says Corbett. “But I gotta tell you, I finished it with my jaw on the floor. In my opinion Nia made it funnier than the first one, more touching and better on a lot of levels.”

Although the sequel marks the official filmic followup to Toula and Ian’s story, Vardalos starred in a short-lived CBS series titled “My Big Fat Greek Life” in 2003 which featured most of the original characters in a slightly retooled set-up.

Lainie Kazan, Michael Constantine, Andrea Martin, Ian Gomez, Alex Wolff, Elena Kampouris, John Stamos, Rita Wilson and Joey Fatone round out the cast of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee, Waking Ned Devine) directs the next chapter of the film that is once again produced by Rita Wilson and Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. Paul Brooks and Steven Shareshian return to executive produce alongside Vardalos and Scott Niemeyer.

Universal Pictures will distribute the comedy domestically and in select international territories beginning March 25, 2016.
