Seth Gordon to Direct Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch Movie

Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon will direct the Baywatch movie, set to star Dwayne Johnson

It has been nine months since Dwayne Johnson took to social media to announce his involvement in Paramount Pictures’ Baywatch movie with a photo of himself atop a jet ski. Today, Variety reports that the film now has a director! Seth Gordon, who launched his career with the video game documentary The King of Kong and who went on to helm comedies like Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, will take the director’s chair on the long-gestating big screen version of the hit television series.

“This is my beach bitch!” Johnson wrote when he first announced his connection to the film last year.Rumors are true… we’re making #BAYWATCH the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach… #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha”

Although several writers have been attached to Baywatch, the most recent draft hails from the Friday the 13th pair of Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Earlier reports suggested that the film will offer a comedy-heavy take that has little to do with the original series. Parts were reportedly written, however, for both Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff to reprise their roles. Whether or not that remains the plan is, at the moment, unconfirmed. As always, check back for updates as they become available.
