Alison Sudol Joins J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Alison Sudol has been set to star with Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston in Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly-anticipated feature Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a new adventure set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Sudol will play Queenie, the sister of Tina (Waterston). The two women meet Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when the magizoologist makes a stop in New York on his travels to find and document fantastic beasts.

David Yates, who directed the last four “Harry Potter” films, will helm the film from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The creator of the Wizarding World, Ms. Rowling was inspired by her character Newt Scamanders’ Hogwarts textbook, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

The film is being produced by David Heyman, producer of all eight of the blockbuster “Harry Potter” features; J.K. Rowling; Steve Kloves, who scripted all but one of the “Harry Potter” films; and Lionel Wigram, who served as an executive producer on the last four installments of the franchise.

Alison Sudol’s role in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will mark her major feature film debut. On the small screen, she recently had a recurring role in the award-winning series “Transparent,” and she currently stars in the USA Network series “Dig.” Sudol came to fame as an alternative singer/songwriter. Her first album, “One Cell in the Sea,” was released in 2007. Her second album, “Bomb in a Birdcage,” was released in 2009. Her third album, “Pines,” was released to global critical acclaim in October 2012. Her music has also been heard in a wide range of films, including “Admission,” “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” “New Year’s Eve” and “Dan in Real Life.”

Warner Bros. Pictures has slated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for worldwide release in 3D and IMAX on November 18, 2016.
