New Scribe for Gyllenhaal’s Moon Project

DreamWorks Pictures has hired newcomer Dan Mazeau to rewrite an untitled action film about lunar colonization that is slated to star Jake Gyllenhaal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Doug Liman (Jumper, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity), who will direct the film, wrote an original screenplay with John Hamburg (Along Came Polly). Black Hawk Down author Mark Bowden revamped that script.

Now Mazeau is on board to try to bring it in for a landing with a different take “based on an original story by Liman, Bowden and Simon Kinberg.”

Former Paramount co-president of production Alli Shearmur will produce with writer/producer Kinberg and Liman. Dave Bartis is executive producing.

Mazeau last month turned in his latest draft of Jonny Quest, a live-action adventure based on the animated ’60s Hanna-Barbera TV show.
