Those hoping for a fateful meeting between Jon Snow and Melisandre after the recent “Game of Thrones” finale will sorta get their wish as Variety reports that Kit Harington has joined the cast of Brimstone featuring none other than Carice van Houten!
They will be joined by Dakota Fanning (replacing Mia Wasikowska) and Guy Pearce in the period thriller, which follows a young 19th century woman named Liz (Fanning) on the run from a diabolical preacher (Pearce), with Harington playing the outlaw role of Samuel originally earmarked for Robert Pattinson. Paul Anderson (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), Jack Roth (The Great Train Robbery) and Carla Juri (Wetlands) have also joined the cast.
Written and directed by Dutch helmer Martin Koolhoven (Winter in Wartime), Brimstone has just begun principal photography, which will encompass shooting on location in Romania, Spain and Germany. Els Vandevorst (Winter in Wartime, Dogville) of N279 Entertainment will produce Brimstone alongside Studio Babelsberg, The Film Farm and Prime Time.
Harington will next appear opposite Andy Samberg in the short HBO film 7 Days in Hell, which premieres on July 11.
