Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out is now playing in theaters and we’ve created this spot for you to tell us and your fellow moviegoers what you thought about the Pete Docter and Ronaldo Del Carmen-directed film, featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Phyllis Smith, Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan.
Disney is reporting that the film is exceeding expectations for Friday with about $29 to 32 million, and they’re projecting a weekend total of between $78 to $82 million. That amount would make it the biggest opening for an “original” Pixar film, topping the $70.5 million start for The Incredibles, and the third-highest Pixar opening ever, close to the $82.5 million start for Monsters University in 2013 and below the $110.3 million posted by Toy Story 3 in 2010. The movie is expected to come in second behind Jurassic World at the box office, which is projected to make the same amount as Inside Out on Friday with early projections for the dinosaur blockbuster’s second weekend to bring in another $100 to 105 million.
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
