There’s big money in religion these days with a number of huge hits in recent years for faith-based dramas like last year’s Heaven is for Real. According to Variety, Jennifer Garner is joining up with the producers of that movie–Joe Roth, Devon Franklin and Bishop T.D. Jakes, for a new one titled Miracles from Heaven, based on the novel by Christy Beam.
Adapted by Randy Brown (Trouble with the Curve), the story is about a young girl suffering from a rare digestive disorder who is miraculously cured after surviving a terrible accident.
The film will be directed by Mexican filmmaker Patricia Riggen (Under the Same Moon, The 33) with production planned to start over the summer.
Heaven is for Real grossed over $100 million worldwide based on a production budget of $12 million, making it a considerable hit for Sony.
Before that, Garner is currently filming the Relativity drama Nine Lives opposite Kevin Spacey.
