Logan’s Run Remake Eyeing Female Lead?

For years now, Warner Bros. Pictures has been trying to get a remake of the 1976 classic Logan’s Run going, most recently with BioShock creator Ken Levine penning a draft and previously with Ryan Gosling re-teaming with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. Now, Tracking Board brings word that the script for the remake has been retooled to change things up by making the lead character a female. This remains unconfirmed, so check back here for further details.

The 1976 original starred Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett. It was based on a 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson. The premise sees a future society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a certain age. Anyone who veers from that destiny is dubbed a “runner” and is hunted by operatives known as Sandmen. Logan is a Sandman who is forced to go on the run.

It was previously reported that the new Warner Bros. movie is expected to be low-tech science fiction in a futuristic setting and hew closer to the book than the 1976 movie, though after countless different screenplays it’s unclear what the plan might be.
