Ron Howard to Shoot Inferno in Florence This Month

According to Italian site Bad Taste, director Ron Howard will begin shooting the third part of his Tom Hanks-led Robert Langdon trilogy, Inferno, in Florence at the end of April through mid-May when the production moves to Instanbul and Venezia.

Howard also took to Facebook and posted some behind-the scenes looks at the decision making process of he and his team as they choose shots for an opening action sequence. The foam-core models depict the spire of Badìa Fiorentina, which has historical ties to Dante Alighieri and plays host to a mysterious figure at the beginning of Brown’s novel.

Inferno continues the Harvard symbologist’s adventures on screen: when Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks, a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s immortal tome.

Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Ben Foster co-star alongside Hanks, who previously played Langdon in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. The Imagine Entertainment production, which has a screenplay by David Koepp based on the book by Dan Brown, is slated for release by Columbia Pictures on October 14, 2016. The project’s executive producers include Dan Brown, Anna Culp, Bill Connor, and David Householter.
