Debra Messing has joined the ensemble cast of Humboldt Park, the State Street Pictures and 2DS Productions film that Overture Films will distribute worldwide, reports Variety.
Alfredo De Villa (Washington Heights) directs the family dramedy, which begin shooting next week in Chicago. Freddy Rodriguez, John Leguizamo, Alfred Molina, Jay Hernandez, Mercedes Ruehl, Luis Guzman, Melonie Diaz and Vanessa Ferlito also star.
The story revolves around three siblings’ return to their parents’ home for the holidays in Humboldt Park on Chicago’s northwest side. Messing will play the wife of Leguizamo’s character.
Rick Najera (A Day Without a Mexican), Ted Perkins (That Latino Thang) and Alison Swan (Mixing Nia) penned the screenplay.
