Lena Headey (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” 300), Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, National Treasure) and Rupert Friend (upcoming The Young Victoria) will star in director Geoff Sax’s supernatural chiller Black Death from production company Ecosse Films, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Set in an apocalyptic medieval world, “Death” details the story of a band of brothers whose quest is to hunt down a necromancer against the backdrop of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England.
Friend will play a young monk sent to investigate rumors of people being brought back to life, while Bean plays a mercenary priest who arrives in the same village. Against the backdrop of the peaceful village lies a pact with the forces of darkness, orchestrated by the village ruler (Headey).
The gothic horror will be produced by Ecosse Films co-chiefs Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae and co-produced by Jens Meurer (Black Book) of Egoli Tossell. Written by Dario Poloni, the project is scheduled to shoot on location in Germany and the U.K.
