Frank Grillo to Star in Akiva Goldsman’s Stephanie

Here’s the synopsis: Abandoned by her parents in their remote home, Stephanie survives on peanut butter and conversations with her toy turtle, while a dark supernatural force looms in the background. When her mother and father return to claim her, the malevolent power spins out of control with Stephanie at the center.

The screenplay for Stephanie was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, and rose to prominence as a selection on the 2012 Blood List of unproduced horror scripts. Goldsman, who won an Oscar for penning A Beautiful Mind, took a hit with his directorial debut Winter’s Tale, both a critical and box office disaster. Having produced three Paranormal Activity films for Blumhouse, hopefully a lower budget horror film will offer him a chance to rebound.

Grillo has been slowly rising to prominence with supporting performances in The Grey, Warrior and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He headlined the $110-million-dollar-grossing Blumhouse film The Purge: Anarchy, and is set to reprise his role as deadly Brock Rumlow, a.k.a. Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War.

Blum and Kaplan will produce Stephanie alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Adrienne Biddle, with Nate Matteson, Eric Robinson and Bryan Bertino executive producing.
